Ms. Pamela Donnaruma

It is with distinct pleasure that Italia Unita announces this year's honoree for the Italian American Achievement Award will be Ms. Pamela Donnaruma. Pamela is the publisher and editor of the Post-Gazette (formerly La Gazetta del Massachusetts) a newspaper which has been in existence for over 112 years. Based in the North End of Boston, the Post-Gazette is a unique newspaper which prints current affairs, political news and a strong focus on the promotion of Italian events and programs in Massachusetts. The Donnaruma family and the newspaper exemplifies what it means to be true supporters of Italian culture.
"Pamela has been a great friend to the Italian community and to East Boston. She is always willing to help promote any special cause related to the positive exposure of Italian events. Reading the "Boston Italians" by Stephen Puleo where he describes the Donnaruma family and all that they have accomplished for the Italians, was very inspiring to me It is our pleasure to honor Pamela and her family beginning with James her grandfather and her parents Caesar and Phyllis." said Pasquale Capogreco, President.
Pamela sits on many boards, such as The National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame New England Chapter. She is the magazine commissioner for The Sons of Italy of Massachusetts’ newspaper. She is also a strong supporter of the Taste of the North End which benefits many charities in the North End as well as the Cam Neely Foundation. She was recently awarded the very prestigious title of “Dama Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta’ Italiana” (Order of the Star of the Italian Solidarity) from the Italian Government, presented by the Consul General of Italy, Liborio Stellino.

The Post-Gazette since its inception has always been a strong advocate and friend to East Boston as well as the North End. I am pleased to continue to support East Boston and all that it has to offer.”
The opening ceremonies and award presentation will take place at the 14th Annual Italian Festival on Friday July 18, 2008 at 7PM. The award ceremony will be hosted by our good friend Ron Della Chiesa from WPLM 99.1 FM. Strictly Sinatra program.
